AEW’s first heel faction is no more.

The Inner Circle imploded Wednesday night when Chris Jericho turned on Santana & Ortiz, with Jake Hager taking sides and joining Jericho. Jake and Chris would also drape their Inner Circle vests over Proud & Powerful after beating them down.

The situation disintegrated when Jericho opened Dynamite and called out Eddie Kingston to do what he didn’t after losing to the Mad King at AEW Revolution on Sunday night – shake his hand. Kingston came out and the two had a back-and-forth that saw Eddie get really personal before finally shaking Jericho’s hand.

Seconds later, 2point0 and Daniel Garcia ran out to attack both men, though it was apparent afterward that they didn’t really take a swing at Jericho. Santana & Ortiz ran down for the save, but Jericho turned on his running buddies, laying them out with a bat. Hager ran down next and appeared conflicted at first, but he quickly took The Influencer’s side, as the five men attacked Santana, Ortiz and Kingston, with Hager powerbombing Eddie off the apron and through a table.

Jericho then called the new group of him, Hager, Garcia and 2point0 the Jericho Appreciation Society, dissolving the Inner Circle after weeks of teasing dissension in the ranks.

The Inner Circle formed on the first episode of Dynamite in October 2019 and has endured throughout the pandemic. As the strained relationship between Jericho and Santana & Ortiz played out on TV, the group’s fifth member, Sammy Guevara took off his vest and stepped away from the stable to focus on defending his TNT Championship rather than getting caught up with the drama.
