WWE is interested in adding the Steiner Brothers, Scott and Rick, to this year’s Hall of Fame class.

Dave Meltzer said as much on the latest episode of Sunday Night’s Main Event, though he believes the induction depends on Scott, who has never been shy of criticising WWE publically. Amongst other things, an IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary XV media call saw him claim that getting rid of “idiots” Stephanie McMahon and Triple H was the first thing the market leaders needed to do to “fix” the company:

“Yeah, the first few changes they need to get rid of Stephanie McMahon and Hunter McMahon. Cause they’re two idiots that are running the whole place up there. It’s like, I mean, I feel sorry for the wrestlers up there, they gotta follow the instructions of these two idiots that clearly don’t know what they’re doing. People don’t wanna watch it because the ratings are down and the reason why I call Hunter McMahon is that she obviously wears the pants. He’s a ball-less walking around human being,”

Clearly, there is no love lost between himself and certain WWE higher-ups. He has also called the WWE Hall of Fame a “joke” in the past, citing its lack of physical location.

An induction may therefore be a hard sell. WWE is accounting for this, though, with Meltzer stating that if the company can’t get The Steiner Brothers as a tag team, they will attempt to induct Rick on his own.

Rick’s son, Bron Breakker, is currently the centrepiece of NXT 2.0, with much of the revamped developmental brand being focused around him since its September 2021 rebranding. Breakker is currently being tipped to regain the NXT Championship from Dolph Ziggler at NXT Stand & Deliver 2022 on 2 April.

WrestlingNews.co reported last year that despite Scott’s outspokenness, Vince McMahon had no issue putting the former WCW Champion in the Hall of Fame. The younger Steiner’s multiple prior claims that he doesn’t want to be inducted are seemingly the only barrier to entry.

The Undertaker and Vader are the only two names to be confirmed for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class so far. The induction ceremony takes place on 1 April, immediately after that night’s episode of SmackDown.
