San Antonio Spurs forward Doug McDermott will miss the remainder of the regular season with a Grade 3 ankle sprain, the team announced Wednesday, according to the San Antonio Express-News’ Jeff McDonald.

McDermott sustained the injury early in the first quarter of San Antonio’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers on March 12 and did not return to the contest.

The 30-year-old veteran is averaging 11.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 24 minutes per game. McDermott’s shooting 46.2% from the field, 42.2% on 3-pointers, and 78.4% from the charity stripe across 51 starts.

The Spurs signed McDermott to a three-year, $42-million contract in the offseason last August before ultimately converting the transaction to a sign-and-trade agreement with the Pacers.

San Antonio is currently 26-43 and sits 12th in the Western Conference. The team is two games behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the West’s final play-in tournament spot with 13 regular-season games remaining.
