The Toronto Blue Jays and third baseman Matt Chapman agreed to a two-year, $25-million deal, the team announced Tuesday.
The contract buys out Chapman’s remaining two arbitration years. He’s still scheduled to become a free agent after the 2023 campaign.
Toronto acquired Chapman from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for four players last Wednesday.
The 2019 All-Star owns a career .808 OPS with 111 homers over five seasons with the Athletics. The 28-year-old is also a two-time Platinum Glove winner and three-time Gold Glover.
