The Kansas City Chiefs are signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a three-year, $30-million deal, his agents told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

The deal, which includes $18 million over the first two years, contains incentives and can reach a maximum of $36 million.

The New Orleans Saints, who offered Valdes-Scantling a two-year deal this offseason, were the favorites to sign the pass-catcher until the Chiefs made a late push with the three-year contract, reports ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Green Bay reportedly tried to re-sign him on a one-year pact.

Valdes-Scantling joins Kansas City one day after the team traded superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for five draft picks.

The 27-year-old spent his first four NFL seasons in Green Bay and has established himself as an explosive deep threat.

Valdes-Scantling set career highs with 690 yards and six touchdown catches in 2020 to go along with an NFL-leading 20.9 yards per reception. However, he wasn’t able to replicate that production last year, finishing the campaign with 26 receptions, 430 yards, and three touchdowns through 11 appearances.

The 2018 fifth-round pick is the second wide receiver to join the Chiefs this offseason after JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Kansas City, winners of six consecutive AFC West titles, features one of the NFL’s most productive offensive units led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have ranked in the top 10 for both points and total yards in each of the last five seasons.
