The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a five-year, $76-million extension with infielder/outfielder Ketel Marte, sources told The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Zach Buchanan.

The deal, which is pending a physical, includes a signing bonus and begins in 2023. It guarantees Marte’s options for the 2023 and 2024 campaigns from his previous contract, but with different salaries, Rosenthal and Buchanan report.

Marte was scheduled to earn $8.4 million in 2021 before reportedly agreeing to the extension.

The 28-year-old slashed .318/.377/.532 with 14 home runs, 29 doubles, and 50 RBIs in 90 games last season.

He’s been a big part of the D-Backs’ roster since they acquired him in a 2016 trade from the Seattle Mariners, slashing .295/.358/.495 with 67 homers and 236 RBIs in five seasons.

Marte’s best campaign came in 2019 when he was an All-Star and finished fourth in National League MVP voting thanks to a .981 OPS with 32 round-trippers, 92 RBIs, 36 doubles, and 10 steals.

The Dominican is also a versatile defender, having played four different positions for the D-Backs throughout his tenure with the club. He mostly appeared in center field last season.
