The Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Emmanuel Clase have agreed to a five-year, $20-million contract extension, according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman.

Clase’s deal reportedly includes a $2-million signing bonus, as well as $10-million options with $2-million buyouts for 2027 and 2028. The options could be worth up to $13 million if Clase achieves certain milestones, according to Sherman.

The pact is pending a physical, reports Cleveland.com’s Paul Hoynes.

Clase, 24, is coming off a terrific 2021 campaign in which he saved 24 games and posted a 1.29 ERA and 9.6 K/9 in 69 2/3 innings for the Guardians.

Cleveland acquired the hard-throwing reliever from the Texas Rangers in 2019.
