The Houston Astros and closer Ryan Pressly agreed to a two-year, $30-million extension through 2024 that includes a third-year vesting option, sources told MLB insider Robert Murray.

The 33-year-old right-hander will earn $10 million in the final year of his current contract, and he’ll play out that deal before the extension kicks in.

The new deal will reportedly pay Pressly $14 million for each year of the deal. The vesting option for 2025, worth $12 million, includes a $2-million buyout, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

The former 11th-round pick has become an elite reliever over the past four seasons. Since the beginning of the 2018 campaign, Pressly ranks third among qualified relievers by FanGraphs WAR, behind only Liam Hendriks and Josh Hader. His 2.48 ERA places ninth over that span, and his 2.43 FIP ranks fourth. Pressly started 2018 with the Twins before being traded to the Astros later that season.

Pressly is coming off his best year yet, posting a 2.25 ERA and 2.06 FIP over 64 appearances (64 innings pitched) while notching 26 saves.
