The Cleveland Guardians inked center fielder Myles Straw to a five-year contract extension that includes club options in 2027 and 2028, the team announced Saturday.

The contract is worth $25 million, a source told Mandy Bell of MLB.com. The first club option would pay Straw $8 million, while the 2028 option is worth $8.5 million.

Cleveland acquired Straw from the Houston Astros at last year’s trade deadline, and he immediately stepped in as its everyday center fielder. The 27-year-old speedster hit .271/.349/.348 with four homers and 48 RBIs in 158 total games last year, while his 30 stolen bases ranked second in the American League.

Straw is also known for his excellent glovework. His four defensive runs saved last year ranked third among qualified center fielders, and he also had six outfield assists.
