Zion Williamson agreed to a five-year, $193-million maximum contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans, his agent told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The star forward can earn as much as $231 million over the course of the deal – which runs through the 2027-28 season – with additional contract incentives.

Williamson averaged 25.7 points on 60.4% shooting from the field, seven rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 85 career games. The former Duke product is the only player in NBA history to average 25 or more points on 60% shooting, according to Statmuse.

The 6-foot-6 forward missed the entirety of the 2021-2022 season with a foot injury after making the All-Star team the previous season. The Pelicans finished with a 36-46 record, good for eighth in the Western Conference. New Orleans made it out of the play-in tournament and pushed the Phoenix Suns to six games in its first-round defeat.
