The Anaheim Ducks signed center Ryan Strome to a five-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $5 million, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Strome recorded 21 goals and 33 assists in 74 games last season while primarily playing alongside Artemi Panarin. He averaged 66 points per 82 games over the last three campaigns. Though he’s strong offensively, Strome has defensive shortcomings.

He was selected fifth overall by the New York Islanders in the 2011 draft.

The 29-year-old is Anaheim’s second marquee signing of the day. The Ducks signed winger Frank Vatrano to a three-year deal earlier Wednesday.
