Madden 23 unveiled its wide receiver ratings on Monday, and many around the NFL began asking the same question after seeing the list: Where’s Ja’Marr Chase?

The Cincinnati Bengals pass-catcher received an 87 rating, tied for only 18th at his position.

Chase reacted to his surprisingly low rating on Twitter, stating that he’ll use it as “extra motivation.”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady backed Chase on social media, referring to the Madden rating he received in his second NFL season.

Chase, who entered his rookie campaign with a 75 Madden rating last year, put on a show in 2021, catching 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns en route to winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The 22-year-old ranked 20th in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, and third in TD catches during the regular season.

The LSU product also set records for most receiving yards by a first-year player in a game (266) and season in 2021 and a rookie postseason record with 368 yards in the playoffs.
