BC Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke suffered a foot injury Friday versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders, interrupting the latest standout performance in his breakout season.

Team doctors examined Rourke’s injury Saturday morning, but he’ll require further evaluation.

The Lions ruled out Rourke in the fourth quarter. Rourke exited after his leg got twisted on a sack from Saskatchewan’s Pete Robertson. The Canadian star threw for 375 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions before leaving.

Rourke entered Week 11 as the front-runner for the Most Outstanding Player award. The 24-year-old came into Friday’s action leading the CFL with 23 touchdown passes, 2,906 passing yards, and an 80.1% completion rate.

Michael O’Connor replaced Rourke as the Lions closed out their 28-10 victory over the Roughriders.

BC improved to 8-1 with the win, putting the club just one win behind the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for first place in the West Division. The Lions will face the Roughriders again in Week 12 before going on a bye.
