With recent reports that CM Punk is set for six to eight months on the sidelines due to a muscle tear in his arm area, it appears that Christian Cage is set for a similar spell out of action.

While it’s already been detailed how the reason for the Cage vs. Jungle Boy match at All Out being so short was due to an arm injury to the Canadian, there are now some specifics on how long Christian will be on the shelf for – and for fans of Captain Charisma, it doesn’t sound good.

Speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated how Cage is going in for surgery on an injury that’s similar to Punk’s and, as a result, will keep the 48-year-old out of in-ring action for a good chunk of time.

As Meltzer detailed:

“His [Christian’s] injury may be the exact same injury as Punk, so we’re talking like, again, an eight month-ish, six to nine months of being out.”

Last night’s AEW Dynamite saw Jungle Boy make mention of Cage going away for his “little surgery”, yet AEW itself has yet to publicly comment on Christian’s status or how long he’ll be away from the squared circle. If Dave Meltzer is to believed, though, it could be a while before the seven-time World Champion is back on our screens.
