Booker T is predicting that “WWE Smackdown” star Sheamus will someday join him as an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Speaking on “The Hall of Fame” podcast, the six-time world champion praised the Irish-born wrestler as someone who “has always been in my fave five,” noting how his focus makes him stand out within WWE.

“He’s a worker,” Booker said. “He’s not one of those guys that [is] just looking to be at the top of the guard. He’s a soldier and soldiers normally find their way to the top of the card.”

Booker also highlighted how Sheamus can switch wrestling personas with ease.

“As of late, he’s been able to change his character,” he continued, noting Sheamus’ latest incarnation as the “Irish pub drinking man with his boys hanging out whatnot. Sometimes when you’re in the business you’ve got to be able to shift gears for a second.”

While Booker admitted he was “one of the guys who wanted to see the “Celtic Warrior” again,” he nonetheless considered Sheamus to be a wrestler who “can actually go out there and have those matches with a Drew McIntyre, another big guy, [and] go to another big guy.”

Booker predicted this is “going to be the year of the heavyweight” and added that he loves “seeing Sheamus go out there [and] perform at this level. And, then again, I love what he tried to do also by switching his character and giving me some entertainment for a minute as well.”

Teaming with Claudio Castagnoli reignited Sheamus’ love of pro wrestling.

The WWE star told ITR that his zest for the biz had waned when he started working alongside the then-Cesaro as ‘The Bar’ in 2016. Claudio’s skills and passion for wrestling helped to restore Sheamus’ own passion, and that’s why they ended up clicking as a team.

Sheamus recently earned plaudits for his performance opposite current Intercontinental Champion Gunther on WWE’s Clash At The Castle special in the UK – the Irishman received a standing ovation from the Cardiff crowd, and he clearly enjoyed how physical the bout was.

That’s the kind of energy Castagnoli breathed back into his bones during their stint together as ‘The Bar’. Sheamus admitted during the interview that working with Cesaro was “great” for him. He also “learned a lot” from the Swiss technician during matches.

Together, Sheamus and Cesaro became four-time Raw Tag-Team Champions. They also held the SmackDown versions on one occasion, and had hot matches with everyone from The Hardys to Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

MJF logged in and chose violence on Thursday.

All Elite Wrestling’s resident fire-spitter hit Twitter to demolish WWE star Sheamus, having interjected in an exchange between the Irishman and fellow SmackDown wrestler Happy Corbin. Responding to Sheamus, who had quipped “real heels wear scarfs” (a possible MJF reference), MJF tweeted “sad.”

Sheamus responded with the Conor McGregor “who the fook is that guy???” gif. This brought out the trash talker in Maxwell Jacob Friedman, who savaged the former WWE Champion:

The follow-ups weren’t quite as incendiary. Sheamus stuck to dropping gifs of Chris Jericho and Elias, both clad in scarfs, while MJF stated that he couldn’t wait for Corbin to “end” him.

Sheamus is currently one of WWE’s men of the moment, having just starred in an acclaimed match with Intercontinental Champion Gunther at Clash At The Castle (3 September).

MJF, meanwhile, is back on AEW television after 4 September’s All Out 2022 pay-per-view, where he returned to secure a future World Title shot by winning the night’s Casino Ladder Match.

While current ROH Champion and Blackpool Combat Club member Claudio Castagnoli is more than content under the AEW umbrella, his time in WWE as Cesaro wasn’t exactly fruitless. During his decade-long run, the Swiss superstar was a multi-time tag-team champion, United States Champion, and held his own in a main-event-level feud with Roman Reigns in 2021. He’ll also forever be associated with his former partner Sheamus for their lengthy alliance as The Bar. The duo was born out of begrudging respect following their epic 2016 rivalry, and they would subsequently capture the “Raw” and “SmackDown” tag belts a collective five times. And as Castagnoli recently reflected on AEW’s “Unrestricted” podcast, that stretch alongside the Irish backbreaker was the most fun he’d had in WWE — bar none.

“We became best friends over those years,” said Castagnoli. “We had a great time, especially internationally and going to football stadiums and stuff like that.”

He acknowledged that he and Sheamus would bicker lovingly like brothers, which he feels only added to the connection they forged with each other and audiences. “If something is authentic, it will connect with the fans,” he explained. “That’s the stuff you cannot fabricate. That’s the magic.” Summing it up in a lament familiar to any dedicated wrestling fan, Castagnoli continued, “How do you explain that to someone who doesn’t like or watch wrestling? You can’t.”

Worry not for Claudio, however. He has fit in just fine with AEW. As he told Bleacher Report back in August of the Blackpool Combat Club, “I’ve only known Wheeler Yuta for about a month, but it feels way longer. Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and William Regal, His Lordship, I’ve known for such a long time, and it fits like a glove. It’s really awesome. It’s really fun. It just worked.” Having that a world title around his waist probably doesn’t hurt.

Damian Priest is your new WWE United States Champion.

Last night’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view saw Priest capture the strap from Sheamus.

This is Priest’s first title reign in WWE. Sheamus won the title from Riddle back at WrestleMania 37 Night Two on April 11, and held the title for 129 days.

The WWE United States Title match is now official for SummerSlam.

After weeks of feuding between Damian Priest and WWE United States Champion Sheamus, their title match was confirmed for SummerSlam during tonight’s RAW episode from Orlando.

RAW saw Sheamus defeat Ricochet in singles action, right before Priest defeated John Morrison. After that match, Priest cut a promo on Sheamus until The Celtic Warrior interrupted him. They had words on the mic until Priest issued a challenge for the pay-per-view. Sheamus accepted the challenge and the match was confirmed.

WWE SummerSlam takes place on Saturday, August 21 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Below is the updated confirmed card, along with a few related shots from tonight’s segment on RAW:

Current WWE United States Champion Sheamus is now engaged to his partner Isabella Revilla.

Isabella took to Instagram to reveal this news, with the Celtic Warrior seemingly proposing to his beau at the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland.

While certain WWE talents forever live their life in the public spotlight, Sheamus is one of those who tends to keep his personal life extremely private.

The powerhouse Irishman – real name Stephen Farrelly – signed with WWE in 2007 after spending the prior five years on the independent scene under his Sheamus O’Shaunessy moniker. Once under the WWE banner, Sheamus honed his craft in Florida Championship Wrestling before debuting for the ECW brand in 2009. He’d spend just four months in ECW before being being moved to Raw – defeating John Cena to become WWE Champion only two months after arriving on the red brand.

Nowadays a 19-year veteran of the industry, the oft-underrated Sheamus’ time in WWE has seen him become a three-time WWE Champion, a one-time World Heavyweight Champion, a three-time US Champion, a five-time Tag Team Champion, a Royal Rumble winner, a Money in the Bank winner, and the 2010 King of the Ring.

Sheamus reportedly won the WWE United States Title at WrestleMania 37 Night Two because it was the best chance to get the title off Riddle.

As we’ve noted, Keith Lee was originally supposed to win the title back at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in February. Lee was taken off TV for unknown reasons, but is said to be working to get cleared now, and WWE added John Morrison to that match as his replacement.

Riddle ended up winning the United States Title in that Elimination Chamber Triple Threat because they needed to get the strap off Bobby Lashley so he could win the WWE Title for WrestleMania 37. Morrison was not an option for the title because he was set for the WrestleMania feud against Bad Bunny and Damian Priest, with The Miz.

Riddle was never supposed to be United States Champion, but WWE had no other choice in the Triple Threat at Elimination Chamber. It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sheamus winning the title at WrestleMania fixes the issue of WWE having to put the title on Riddle back in February.

There is no word yet on what WWE has planned for Sheamus as champion, or for Riddle. It’s likely that the feud will continue for at least a few more weeks, for a potential rematch at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view on May 16.

Sheamus is your new WWE United States Champion.

Tonight’s WrestleMania 37 Night Two show saw Sheamus capture the title from Riddle.

This is Sheamus’ third reign with the title. Riddle won the title back at Elimination Chamber on February 21, by winning a Triple Threat over John Morrison and current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, who went into the Triple Threat with the title.

Sheamus vs. WWE United States Champion Riddle is now official for WrestleMania 37. The title will be on the line.

Last night’s RAW saw Sheamus defeat Riddle in a non-title match. After the match, Riddle attacked Sheamus to get payback for Sheamus attacking him earlier.

WWE then announced Sheamus vs. Riddle for Night Two of WrestleMania 37.
